Isabel Lopez is the Director of Community Violence & Partnerships at the National Network for Safe Communities.
Prior to joining the National Network, Lopez served as Project Manager for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, where she played an integral role in the successful implementation of Group Violence Intervention efforts in the City of Newburgh. In this role, she worked closely with local and state law enforcement, city officials, the United States Attorney’s Office, community-based organizations, and other key partners to support coordinated strategies focused on reducing gun violence. A significant part of her work centered on strengthening relationships between law enforcement, community partners, and residents, fostering collaboration and helping build the trust necessary to support effective and sustainable violence reduction efforts.
Lopez also brings extensive firsthand law enforcement experience. During her tenure with the New York City Police Department, she served in a variety of roles, including patrol, community policing, and as a narcotics investigator. She later served as a Police Officer with the Port St. Lucie Police Department in the State of Florida. Her combined experience in law enforcement, violence intervention, project management, community engagement, and partnership development provides her with a unique perspective on collaborative approaches to public safety and building trust between communities and law enforcement.
Lopez holds a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration from Purdue University Global.
