Danneile Davis is the Senior Advisor at the National Network for Safe Communities.
At NNSC, Danneile leads site advising for reconciliation in cities across the United States. Her portfolio focuses on engaging communities marginalized by race and gender, particularly survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence, in dialogue and partnership with law enforcement to acknowledge and repair past institutional harm, build mutual trust, and reduce violence. Notable past work includes the National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice: a U.S. DOJ-funded pilot project described by the Urban Institute as “the largest and most comprehensive effort ever undertaken to tackle police-community mistrust in the United States.” She has also led site strategic advising for the Intimate Partner Violence Intervention, another U.S. DOJ-funded pilot project to reduce serious and chronic IPV in cities across the country.
Danneile has frequently presented on this work at conferences globally, including for End Violence Against Women International, National Center for Victims of Crime, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Stockholm International Peace and Development Forum, Alliance for HOPE, American Society of Criminology, National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement, and more.
Prior to joining NNSC, Danneile worked as an Associate Consultant at Bain & Company in Chicago, IL, where she crafted operational improvement and growth strategies for numerous private sector and nonprofit clients.
Outside work, Danneile serves as a United Kingdom delegate to the United Nations 67th Commission on the Status of Women; on the Generation JOY Committee for the Joyful Heart Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing gender-based violence in the U.S.; on the Membership Committee for the St. George’s Society of New York, a large US-UK charity dedicated to supporting those from the Commonwealth who have fallen on hard times in NYC, and as a returning cast member in “To Protect, Serve, and Understand”: a Brooklyn-based community theatre effort to address mistrust between the New York Police Department and local residents.
Danneile holds a Master of Science degree with Distinction in Gender, Peace, and Security from the London School of Economics & Political Science, as well as a BA in History from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is also trained as a rape crisis counselor and a restorative justice facilitator. Danneile is currently based in London, England.
