As part of John Jay and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE)‘s Future of Public Safety series, David Kennedy joined a September 17th panel on Public Safety Beyond the Police Station:
To create truly safe communities, we must answer critical questions about what public safety looks like beyond the police station. What is the role of police and other community actors and public servants in creating safe communities? What is the role of police and other community actors in responding to specific community challenges such as youth violence, substance abuse, and homelessness?
Speakers included Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform Executive Director David Muhammad, former Health Commissioner for the City of Baltimore and former president of Planned Parenthood Dr. Leana Wen, Dallas Chief of Police Reneé Hall, and Public Welfare Foundation President & CEO Candice Jones. The panel was moderated by James Cadogan, Vice President of Criminal Justice at Arnold Ventures.
